After graduating from Temasek Polytechnic, I got myself a full-time position as a marketing executive through a scholarship. Back then I considered myself really fortunate to have secured a job right after graduation. In my second year of employment, my then-manager shared with me the importance of financial planning, and actually encouraged me to give financial advisory a try as she saw the potential in me, coupled with the fact that I managed my own finances from as young as 13 years old. Here I am today after 6 years, still striving to do my best every day, constantly upgrading myself to learn new things and ensuring that my clients remain in good hands!

Understand from the perspective of others
My greatest inspiration that helped me in this career is my mother, who has always taught me to understand my clients from their point of view, which is extremely important in this career as we have to suggest the right solutions for their current and future needs. On top of this, I was also raised to only do things that I truly believe in, and that is what keeps me going in this business.

Every little step matters
Though I was forced to manage my own finances from a young age, I consider it a blessing in disguise as it taught me the fundamentals of financial planning from budgeting to risk planning. This allowed me to share with my clients that not every day is going to be a day, and thus we should always plan for the worst and also the best. Furthermore, I always share that Rome was not built in a day. Every little step taken today contributes to a better future self.

Always maintain the human touch
Being that listening ear to our clients is crucial to succeeding in this industry. With the increasing phenomenon of digitalisation and social media, the human touch is gradually losing its place in today’s world. By simply providing a pair of listening ears and actively listening to our clients’ concerns, we’re able to build genuine relationships with them and provide moral support for them when needed, and this is something that no device or machine can replace.
