I was first introduced to this industry when I was in my teens. Being prone to dislocation, I had to undergo a couple of surgeries, and I was worried about my family’s finances at that point in time. Not knowing how well-insured I was, I didn’t want to go ahead with the surgery initially. Thankfully, I found out I didn’t have to fork out a single cent because of the medical coverage that I had. That was when I decided to study insurance and investing, in order to better understand my own portfolio better. As a financial consultant, I am able to advocate for better financial planning, and more importantly, it is fulfilling when I am able to meet new friends from all walks of life and understand them and the lives they want to lead. I’d like to be the one to show people that they are in good hands with me, and with us as a team.

Room for improvement in the industry.
The current standards of financial advisory need to be improved. Thankfully, I found a team with similar values and vision and we share in the hope of raising these standards together. I hope that by raising the standards of the industry, we’re able to encourage and inspire others to seek professional advice on holistic financial planning.

Be grateful for what you have.
What I have learned in this career is to always unlearn and relearn. Stay grounded and humble whatever your achievements may be, and know that there’s always something to learn from everyone. Whenever you think you’re lost, go back to the basics. Be kind, practise gratitude daily and always appreciate and cherish what you have.

Be authentic and genuine to everyone.
My goal in this career is to eventually build a team of like-minded individuals with integrity and compassion, and a team who I can call family too! We are who we attract, and I believe I can achieve this by being authentic and genuine to everyone.

One thing I like about Ming’s process is that she is very careful and observant in helping me manage my finances. She does not rush into things and is completely honest about everything. She also adapts well to how I prefer to be helped. For example, I like to have short term goals and “homework” so that I can take it step-by-step. Ming is also a very nice and engaging person. She is very easy to talk to. The first time I met her, I felt that I had known her before that! I felt very comfortable talking to her about things I may not be comfortable telling others. She is very different from other financial advisers I’ve experienced who were very quick in asking me to “buy insurance and plans” with them which made me feel that they don’t really care about my situation but instead, only wanted the commissions for themselves. I think Ming is different from those as she is very genuine and honest. Instead of selling insurance and plans immediately, she got to know my situation and readiness first and guided me on how I can improve my finances before actually diving into it.

I have heard stories from my friends on how advisers today are just heading out for young people like us. It was my first talking to an adviser and I was honestly kind of scared to engage at first. However, after several sessions with Ming, I realised she was not the stereotypical adviser I thought she would be.

Ming’s approachable and informative whenever I’m in doubt. She’s willing to go the extra mile to teach and explain to me. The whole session felt like I was talking to a friend. Overall, the experience was pleasant and genuine. Appreciate her a lot, thank you!

Ming is very friendly and enthusiastic. She is very explicit and clear in explaining the financial plans and savings I need. She is very patient in explaining those big terms to me. She takes a lot of initiative to initiate conversations. Indeed, she feels more like a friend rather than a Financial Adviser as she makes meetings less awkward. She is very honest as she shares her personal experiences and life stories without putting up a fake front. She feels like a really genuine person that has an interest in her clients. She is also an optimistic person!

Liying

I find that Ming is a genuine person when it comes to advising me financially, the process feels very personalised and I like that she has taken into account my questions and goals in her planning. In terms of financial advisers, I have not encountered other FAs before but my sister had an unfortunate experience with one so I was quite sceptical. I like that Ming has helped to iron out and make things understandable in terms of the terminology and how the planning would work.
