I was first introduced to financial consulting as a career path when I was serving my National Service in 2019. Honestly, I didn’t have a good impression of it at first due to the social stigma surrounding it at that time. However, I was convinced by my leader to give it a shot. After experiencing first-hand how financial consultants, through holistic financial planning, can really add value to the lives of others, I decided to pursue this as a long-term career path. I have never looked back since.
Growing alongside others.
Being a financial consultant has benefited not only those around me, but it has also enabled me to grow as well. Not only am I able to work a job that is aligned with my interests in finance, but it has also allowed me to grow alongside the like-minded people that I’m surrounded with.
Providing the right solutions through all the noise.
Consumers now are all too often overwhelmed and confused regarding which investments or insurance vehicles are appropriate for them. The greatest role a financial consultant plays is providing education to clients so that the right decisions can be made. Success in the financial life of a client often equates to success for the client’s financial consultant.
Always look towards personal growth.
Building competence goes hand-in-hand with personal growth as well. I believe that one important trait all financial consultants should have is the desire for personal growth, as it is a job that requires one to always strive to better their knowledge so that they can provide better services to their clients.
