A financial consultant for almost 5 years now, I initially wanted to pursue a career in hotel management after completing my business degree at SMU. However, after giving hotel management a shot after graduating, I realised it wasn’t a career that would align with my long-term goals. While looking for a new job related to my business degree, I reconnected with a primary school friend who’s now a leader in the financial advisory industry and who introduced me to AAG. The rest is history.

A career with autonomy and purpose
When I first entered the hotel industry, it was my dream to provide excellent service for hotel guests and eventually climb the corporate ladder and manage prestigious hotels all over the world. But the experience made me realise that I wanted to do more on my own terms. Financial advisory opened my eyes to the possibilities of the greater impact I can bring to the people around me, and provide value to the people closest to me as we journey through life together. That, to me, is much more meaningful and fulfilling.

Developing both professionally and personally
I believe that every personal and professional growth I develop as a financial consultant would bring additional value to my clients, and hopefully, my mindset can help change the reputation of the financial advisory scene someday. Any of my personal fears and barriers are ultimately insignificant compared to the possibility of people around me missing out on crucial financial advice if I had not reached out.

Stay open-minded and compassionate
Financial consultants that can succeed in this business need to have greater compassion for others rather than themselves because it is a people’s business after all. We need to have a genuine heart to plan in the best interests of our clients.
