JEVI KELSEA
ADVISORS ALLIANCE GROUP
In 2017, I graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a huge study loan. As a young graduate, I panicked and started searching for jobs that could pay me as high a salary as possible to give me sufficient income to clear my loan. I discovered the financial advisory industry and definitely liked the idea of value-adding to my loved ones and peers.
“If I had my way, I would write the word ‘insure’ over every door of every cottage and upon the blotting pad of every public man, because I am convinced that, for sacrifices that are conceivably small, families can be secured against catastrophes which otherwise would smash them forever.” – Sir Winston Churchill
Just like the quote above, I was equally convinced and joined with the purpose and love in my heart for my family and friends. I can’t stop catastrophic events from happening but I believe I can protect them with financial planning, because sometimes, finance can make or break anything.
A career with purpose
Some people choose jobs according to their income, career progression, passion, etc. Along the way, we forget our purpose and start losing interest. While I meet many different individuals, my purpose stays etched in me. The purpose of my career is to help every individual sustain financially through any catastrophic event, preserve their hard-earned money, grow their hard-earned money, and lastly, distribute it to their liking in the event that they are not around. If I’m protecting a whole family, it makes me immensely satisfied. Over the years, I’ve seen or heard so many different stories that give me a deeper conviction about my job.
A passion to serve
I stay motivated by my clients, who always appreciated me from the start and I’m genuinely thankful and grateful to my mentor, clients, friends and family. The most rewarding moment in my career was when I was at my client’s place and he introduced me as his daughter to his visiting friend. I was surprised and understood that it was his way of showing his love and appreciation. I have been deeply touched by so many other scenarios. This incident was when I knew that clients are deeply connected to me and I am ever thankful.
A respectable path
My advice to anyone considering financial advisory as a career is to do it! The value that we add is so valuable and I respect every financial consultant. This is more than a profession. It is a profession with purpose.
