When I freshly graduated from university, I pursued a career in teaching at an SME. However, things did not go as planned due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and I came out of this short stint realising how underserved business owners were when it comes to business development and protection.

I chanced upon AAG as I was seeking a career in consultancy to deepen my knowledge and understanding of businesses and the difficulties they face in this world. Through interacting with my now-colleagues at AAG, a few common themes emerged, some of which resonated with me personally.

AAG also places a strong emphasis on giving back to the community, and together with the strong collaborative culture displayed since my first engagement with AAG, I decided to join this high-achieving firm and join the ranks as a financial consultant.

A challenging but rewarding career
Being a financial consultant is both dynamic and engaging. No two business owners face the same issues. The demands of flexing the necessary interdisciplinary problem-solving skills appealed greatly to me, as I had developed those skillsets while pursuing my linguistics degree.

Being resourceful is key
As I deal with profiles that have significantly more life experience than me, I believe it would be short-sighted of me to instruct them otherwise. Instead, I synthesise the experiences of these owners across the same industries and amalgamate them with the latest trends that newer business owners within the same industry have adopted. My goal is to provide prospects and clients with value-adding insight pertaining to the longevity of their businesses, and distribution of their familial wealth.

A goal to be a thought leader
My near-term goal is to be able to benefit 100 SME owners within the next 5 years, and by doing so, achieve $10m AUM. My greatest goal is to become a thought leader towards to the trends and tools used to safeguard business owners’ interests, and the distribution of their familial wealth.
