When I was still a student in Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang Business School, I did my exchange programme in the Netherlands and thought about the potential income ceiling I might face as a marketing major. As my father is a taxi driver and my mother is a housewife, I decided to explore other options besides what my degree could offer me. After much deliberation, I took the step of confidence into the financial advisory industry.

I decided to join this industry as a way to build a better life for myself and my family, but at the same time, I am also able to see how my clients’ lives have been impacted and changed through my actions. As I processed numerous claims for them over the last 2 years, I gradually realised how my work is able to help other families besides mine.

Financial consultants have to be driven to succeed in this industry. Contrary to the belief that the industry is saturated with consultants, I believe we still lack sufficient competent consultants who can serve the mass population in Singapore.

Achieve your goals together with your clients.

The most rewarding moment of my career was when I could finally afford to bring my mother on a fully sponsored trip to Hokkaido. It was also the first time she saw snow! I love this career and the things I’ve been able to do for my clients, my family and myself. I’ve seen how this industry has helped me build a better life, and I would love to bring in my friends so that they can also do the same, while helping our clients protect and achieve their life goals.
