I began my career as a financial consultant in September 2021, joining the financial advisory industry with a profound personal motivation. Raised by a single mother who struggled to provide for my brother and me, I experienced first-hand the critical importance of sound financial planning. These challenges highlighted the necessity to plan adequately for the future to avoid the potential pitfalls that unpreparedness brings, particularly for the sandwich generation — those who support both their children and their aging parents.

My decision to enter this field was driven by the desire to provide security and stability for others, to ensure they are better prepared for financial uncertainties than my family was. This passion is not just about offering financial advice but about genuinely improving lives through careful, considered financial strategies that reflect each client’s unique circumstances and goals.

One crucial lesson I’ve learned through my career is the importance of responsiveness. Being available and responsive to clients whenever they need assistance not only builds trust but also provides them with much-needed peace of mind during uncertain times.

My motivation stems from the relationships I build with my clients and my team. Knowing that my clients trust me enough to consider me part of their family deepens my commitment to my role and drives me to continually strive for excellence. Moreover, the support and camaraderie of close friends within the industry further inspire me to improve and succeed.

For those new to the industry, recognise the importance of self-discipline and the effective management of one’s time. While the flexibility of being self-employed is advantageous, it requires a heightened level of self-regulation to ensure productivity and professional growth. Embrace the mindset of a business owner; be proactive, disciplined, and ever-ready to adapt to the needs of your clients.
