I am an avid rugby fan who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore in 1997, before joining AIA in 1998, where I have been a financial consultant for over 2 decades now.

Financial consulting is a very nuanced job that requires a lot of skill sets, but no matter which skills you possess, competency is always a must. This job is based a lot on building trust with your clients and competency is at the core of everything that you do.

Never forget your roots.

I would not have stayed in this industry for such a long time had it not been for the people who I greatly look up to in the industry. I credit Mary Chen as my greatest influence in the industry, and she is someone whom I greatly respect.

The financial services industry has evolved much since the 90s, and the public is also starting to better understand the importance of proper financial planning. Our training enables our financial consultants to become more professional with every batch, and we have the responsibility of properly putting financial programmes in place for our clients to continue this journey with them.
